A little over two weeks after arriving in Japan I am finally registered as a resident of this community.
This means I can finally make a ask account so I can get my pay and also means I might be able to get my cellphone and mobile data plan now.

– Initially go to apply for a change of address and was rejected on grounds that I don’t have the appropriate paperwork
– Apply to have the necessary paperwork sent to me via mail but get rejected on grounds of not having a registered address
– Apply for the necessary paperwork to be sent to a substitute person with a registered address
– Go to the municipal office to get registered

At the bank:

Things are going relatively smoothly but I had to write my current (very temporary address in my passport…
I might have to check later to see if I can rectify it if I decide to move to somewhere in Japan in the next 10 years, since that’s how long it’s valid for.
Well, at least I can use my passport as my identification for getting a sim card.

Everything went smoothly and now I have a bank account.
Now I can pay and be paid!

It seems like I can change the inkan and also change my address to a Canadian one at the end of my stay here.
I just won’t be able to receive any bank statements or anything like that.
Which is fine with me as long as I can check these things online (which I need to remember to ask about).

Gray skies, but most of everything I need to do is now done and I’m due to go to another exhibition at the end of this week.
It’s mech centered this time but I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy it.
There seems to be a virtual reality exhibition at the same time that I can go to as well.

Today’s picture is a license:

image

It’s really just a frequenter card for people going to maid cafés.
On the back is some places to check off that you’ve come and a place with your name that you want the maids to call you.
I’m not quite sure what’s international about it but it’s apparently an international license.
