I miss some things from Canada now, but there is one thing I miss in particular.
It’s not very Canada specific but more me specific.
I miss my system.
An Asus tower running Arch Linux using i3wm and the command line as the file browser.
I usually miss it when my work computer is being exceptionally slow or when I have to type out long documents on my phone (since I don’t have a laptop).
Yes, it’s the nerd’s homesickness.
But I might seriously need a proper x86 computer now that I have to apply for jobs for my next work term.
While playing the violin yesterday I found that the sounds would give out on a particular section of the bow.
I had read before that there was something you were supposed to put on the bow to care for it but I had assumed that the people at the music hall would do that for us.
Additionally, I didn’t notice the little compartment inside the violin case that held the resin.
It was harder than I thought it would be, being almost like a waxy rock.
Bit mostly like a rock.
After sliding the bow on the resin a few times the sound improved by a lot.
I guess I was playing hard mode the whole time? (And probably damaging the bow while I was at it…)
There was white powder left on the strings afterwards, so I’m guessing I applied too much…
Oh well, I’ll learn.
