So I ended up going and am on my way home, no regrets:
Yes, more than a few friends have told me that I am psychopathic and that I might snap one day and kill everybody in our department.
Or whoever just happens to be in the clubroom at the time that I snap.
Anyway, some ideas on how swinging a stick can have so many different styles.
In a conversation today with a fellow practitioner I learned about how he swings his five foot staff.
He claimed that pulling the staff is the way to go and that you should be relaxed as much as you can because the weight of the staff is enough to do damage.
Another person said that rotational movement of the muscles (such as rotating the staff about its longer axis when performing a thrust).
He claims people are more accustomed to linear movements in general so attempting to incorporate rotational movement into your actions will lead to time losses.
Unless you train yourself such that rotational movements to add to your power become second nature.
I agree with both and wonder why I hadn’t thought of that before.
But now I wonder, can I put what they say into practice?
There’s a long road ahead.
